Job description
We are seeking a talented Teaching Assistant to make a difference in the lives of students with diverse learning needs. If you have experience working with children on a 1:1 basis and are confident in communication, we want to hear from you!
The Role
- Providing 1:1 support to students with SEND, ensuring they receive personalised attention and assistance
- Collaborating with the classroom teacher and other support staff to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Assisting students with sensory or speech impairments in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities.
- Monitoring and recording student progress and behaviour, and reporting any concerns or observations to the classroom teacher or SENDCO
You
- An Enhanced DBS check, demonstrating suitability to work with children and young people.
- Previous experience working within a school setting, preferably with children on a 1:1 basis
- A relevant teaching qualification, demonstrating your knowledge of effective teaching practices
The School
This is a successful special school that provides education to pupils aged between 5 and 18 years old, all of whom hold an Education, Health, and Care Plans. While the school is designated for pupils with moderate learning difficulties, it predominantly serves students with additional needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, and some behavioural challenges. They cater to approximately 218 students aged 5 to 18 years.
Students benefit from small class sizes, with teaching assistants supporting the teachers. The school follows the Team Teach behaviour management principles.
Their committed staff work collaboratively with families to provide a personalized curriculum, ensuring that all pupils are prepared for their next educational or adult life stage.
